Ive taken the list of players for this weekend, being mindful that the list has been up for sometime and people forget that they have put there names down to play, could you all look at the list below, if you name is down but now dont wish to play, or if you now wish to play can you reply by return so that I can make the draw before Saturday, Thanks. (No reply I shall assume that youre playing) Ill confirm the start time, but at the moment its looking to be an early start 9:30 ish.

30th August
Good evening everyone,
Has everybody recovered after the tour?, well lets get back on to it, this Saturday is finals day, I did say that I would let you know a playing schedule for the day but this is proving to be a bit of a challenge as not all of the knockout rounds have been played. These are being played tomorrow night. Some of the players are likely to be in the final of more than one competition which also makes things interesting. The idea seems to be that finalists are to be at to be at the club for 9:30 and to get games underway by 10:00. If you have any of the trophies or cups would you please bring them to the club by Saturday (cleaned please).
Friday night league, the intention is to play tomorrow night numbers & rinks permitting, Chris and team will be cooking bacon baps after the games.
Saturday 8th September there will be a competition day the format is to be decided when the numbers wishing to take part is known.
Saturday 15th September, Mayors Trophy, the AGM will be held over the lunch break please look at the nominations sheet on the notice board.
In the club will be sheets regarding, Presentation night and Christmas party please put your names down if you are intending to come so that we can gauge numbers.
Next years tour to Cardiff deposit of £30 per person asap to reserve your place, cheques payable to Llanidloes Bowling Club Tour.
All the best,
Andrew
23rd August
Good morning everyone,
Well what a weekend !, big thanks to Jackie & Nigel for organising the tour and anyone who was involved in making it the weekend that it was. Nigel announced on the coach on the way back home that the tour for next year was already being arranged, the tour is to Cardiff over the August bank holiday weekend and will be about the same cost as this year (£225-£250). If you want to reserve a place £30 deposit per person please, to either Nigel, Jackie or myself.
This weekend is finals day, the forecast for Saturday at this point looks reasonable the timings and playing schedule is being sorted by the captains and as soon as I know Ill put out an email. Chris and team will be doing food, (I did hear that bacon baps in the morning and filled rolls for lunch being talked about).
The green is recovering after the dry weather, but please watch the bare patches as they do have a tendency to be slippy in damp/wet conditions.
All the best,
Andrew

14 August 2018
Good morning everyone,
This Saturday is the Fours competition, the sheets are up in the locker rooms, if you want to play, get your names down quick the sheets are coming down on Wednesday night! If your name is down but cant play please cross it off so the draw and tables can be worked out. Food will be jacket potatoes & assorted fillings and a sweet. Ill put an email out regarding start time later in the week.
The mens league looks as if we will have to wait till next year to order the champagne, we currently are sitting third with a game to play (Newtown & Welshpool above us) Newtown have Carno to play which will properly extend their lead, Welshpool 11/2 points above, but all games played. We play Carno away on the 23rd and would need a 2+ points win to gain a second place finish. Good effort from all players this season.
Inhouse competitions are ticking along nicely and starting to reach some interesting conclusions.
The AGM is coming up in a few weeks, on the notice board (next to the serving hatch) there is the officers nominations sheet, please take moment to look over it prior to the AGM.
Friday night, food will be toasties.
All the best,
Andrew.
9 August 2018
Good morning Everyone.
Big night tonight, Men v Women this has got to be the high spot in the Bowling calendar followed by chicken curry & chips (£2.00), please be ready to start at 6:30 as last night 9:15 it was too dark to play and we dont want to be eating too late.
Dress code: casual (as per a Friday night). Tonight is open to all members not just people who have played in the leagues
More seriously, the outcome of the mens
league position could be sealed tonight with other clubs below us in the league
play their last games, unfortunately our final position will largely will
be as a result of other clubs efforts, as you can see from the table below
we are currently top with a game to play (Carno away 23rd August), so we will
be eagerly watching, as the results come in tonight
The inhouse competitions are hotting up as the competitions are getting closer to their conclusion, making for some excellent games to watch, we could do with someone running a book on the final outcome!!.
The Gillingham Cup that was played last Saturday under extremely hot conditions was stopped short due to everyone being exhausted and the final rounds will be played as soon as it can be arranged, Ill try and give as much notice as I can.
Friday night, food will be Bacon baps.
The committee has decided to sell the pool table, as it is not being used, you may have seen it on Facebook, just to make sure that no one with in the club would of liked the chance to buy it, it will be sold as seen with the mover dolly if youd like to make an offer see me. (Ive have had offers from people other than club members) It will be the buyers responsibility to remove it.
All the best,
Andrew
3 August 2018
Good morning everyone,
Well the men did what was asked of them last night with a win over Machynlleth, 61/2 to 1/2 good result, but now waiting on the out come of other teams to see how the league will finish. This coming Thursday the men have a Bye and once again the challenge has been put out to play the women, the sheets will be in the locker rooms, Chris said that there will be curry & chips after the game.
The green has revived a little with the rain that we have had, but the heavy wear areas on the heads are unlikely to recover this year. If you can adjust the position of the mat when you play to avoid these it will help to get the last months play out of the green.
The club is trying to enter a team into the winter dominos league, if you can play the list of names is in the mens locker room, or see John Armitage.
Tonight, Friday night league, only a limited number of nights left to get those scores in now!, tonight after the game Nigel will be cooking bacon baps.
Tomorrow is the Gillingham Cup, a ladies competition if you fancy a watch it will be on for most of the day.
See you all later,
Andrew
27 July 2018
Good morning everyone,
End of the week again, I hear that last Friday night turned out to be a little damp, but the dominos came out and the bacon rolls went down well.
Last night the men achieved a good win over Berriew , when looking across the score boards making some impressive leads in the first half of the game, however this was not to be the case in the second half with Berriew beating their way back with most rinks needing to win on the 21st end to get the win over all, great play by all members, but the final credit has to go to the skips with their final wood often making that needed score with an overall win 61/2 to 1/2.
Whilst the league title technically within reach we would need other teams to produce some unlikely results, but keep on playing like last night who knows ! (I would love to be able to place an order for champagne!)
This Saturday is the Mixed pairs competition, we do need equal numbers of men and women, but if you fancy having a go get your names down on the sheets in the locker rooms tonight, the format of the day will be in the club for 9:00, the draw will be made with the people that are there at 9:00 with games aim to start at 9:30, Chris and team will be doing filled rolls for lunch. The forecast is for thunder early morning but we all know that these can be very localised so we can only make a decision at the time about playing.
Tonight, Chris and team will be cooking chips,
See you all later,
Andrew
19 July 2018
Good morning everyone,
Well done the ladies, a good win against Carno Tuesday night.
Last Sunday, the pairs competition, many thanks to Jonathan for all the effort that he put in to make the competition run so smoothly and to all the people who helped behind the scenes to make it such a great day.
Tonight night (Thursday) the men are at home against Kerry, a good one to win if we can as with good results till the end of the season there is a possibility of winning the league, but lets go at it steadily and make sure each week at a time.
Friday night league, Joyce and team will be treating you to Bacon baps.
In the locker rooms the sheets are up for the mixed pairs competition 28th July, get your names down (new players as well). The pairs will be drawn out of a hat on the day.
Looking further ahead, 8th September were planning bowling during the day with a social event in the evening so keep your diary clear for that day more details closer to the date.
The greens shed, I think that everyone now has got used to all the equipment being in its new location, just one thing could everyone make sure that the doors are clipped back together after you have had the equipment out to stop the doors flapping" in the wind I noticed the other night whilst playing the other night that they were taking a bit of a battering, thank you.
Items for sale, Pam Mills has some white trousers for sale 42 waist £5
All the best,
12 July 2018
Good morning everyone,
Well the good weather was nice but did get a little fierce sometimes, the next few days look to be reasonable with the chance of some showers, which will help to bring the green back to life. Please be aware that the green will become extremely slippery in this condition so take care.
On Wednesday both the womens teams won in Welshpool one against Welshpool and the other against Churchstoke. Well done.
Tonight, the men are in Carno hoping that the dampness in the air dont bring out those gnats otherwise well all have to borrow Terrances pipe to keep them away!.
Friday night Chris and team will be cooking toasties.
Sunday, is the pairs competition early start please at the club for 9:00, 9:30 first games on the green, Chris and team will be doing a light lunch of filled rolls, with sausage & chips in the afternoon, for those who want to stay and watch the world cup final. (big thanks to Jonathan in sorting out the table and draws)
If anybody has any items that they want to sell or are needing drop me an email and Ill put it out to the members (not necessarily bowling items).
All the best,
Andrew
9 July 2018
This coming weekend on Sunday is the pairs competition, if any one wishes to play that hasnt put their names down yet could you enter your names on the sheets in the locker rooms as soon as possible please. If any of the new members fancy having a go, get your names down it will be a good day and give you an insight to a competition day, (you enter as a pair so its not a random draw). The competition is planned to finish before the football is due to start !
All the best,
Andrew

Newsletter 2019
Good morning everyone,
Tomorrow (Saturday 14th) Mayors Trophy competition, 12:30 at the club for the draw, and trying for a 1:00 start for the first ones on the green, it will be a knockout competition, Good luck !
9th September 2019
Good evening everyone,
A good day last Saturday I think that youll all agree, and well done to all the winners of the competitions, and a big thank you who all who helped on the day.
This Wednesday 11th Llanidloes BC is hosting a Presidents game, both locker rooms will be in use, so all bags will have to be removed from the locker rooms by Tuesday 6:00 pm, any bags that are left will be moved out, whilst every care will be taken with the bags moved, the club cannot take any responsibility for missing or damaged items.
This coming Saturday, (14th) Mayors Trophy Competition. The competition was originally for the 21st, but due to work being started on the green on Monday the 16th it has to be this Saturday or not at all for this year. I know that when the name sheets were first put up in the locker rooms the date was later in the month.
Could you look through the list and confirm by email that you still are available and want to play, or if you name is not on the list let me know if you want play. It is a mixed singles competition. Knockout format, with a plate competition as well.
All the best,
Andrew
6th September 2019
Good morning everyone,
Well done to the ladies on Tuesday night coming second in the league to beating Machynlleth (7:2) with the game finishing in total darkness for Jos rink.
Tonight the club will be open (although the Friday night league has finished) if anybody fancies a few ends.
Tomorrow, finals day a busy day for some players in the club, to get all the games in we will need to push the games through as quickly as possible otherwise the light will be against us at the end of the day. If the start times can be pulled forward we will try to do so. There will be food available, bacon baps till 11 then burgers, hot dogs & chicken burgers, cakes later on. Dress: Club shirt & Whites. Please dont forget the cups need to be back in the club (Morris Cup, Ladies Cup & Mixed Pairs) thank you
All the rounds of the main competitions have now been played so the running order for tomorrow is as listed below:
Finals Day 7th September
All the best,
Andrew
3rd September 2019
Good evening everyone,
Well, Finals day is on this Saturday (7th September). Well done to all who have taken part in the competitions this year. The schedule for the finals has taken some working out as a number of members have to play in more than one final, so we have to have an early start, first game at 9:00, there are still some games to play (in yellow) to get a result and as they are played the main schedule will remain as per the timings unless there is a clash, the Captains Day games may have to be adjusted. Good evening everyone,
Friday night, Terrence informs me that subject to the weather the Friday night league will be played this Friday as usual and there are a number of members in the running for the Cup this year, so keep those scores coming in. Terrence said that hell be at the club from 6:00 maybe an early start to beat the dark!. Week Friday (30th) will probably be the last night for this season.
As usual the need to play off games prior to finals day means that the rinks are getting busy so dont forget to book your games on the board in the mens locker room.
Finals Day, (14th September) as we get closer and know whos playing in the finals a running order and timings will be published, also any games that need to be played prior to finals day will be looked at next week.
The green this year will be closing on the 15th September, this is to allow contractors in on the Monday 16th to carry out extensive maintenance of the playing surface, this will let the new seed germinate before the growing season stops and in turn a better green next year.
The AGM originally to be held 21st September will be at a later date this year.
There are still a number of unfilled positions on the nomination sheets, please put yourself forward if you fancy having an input into running the club. Or if you wish to know what is needed ask a committee member.
All the best,
Andrew

Good morning everyone,
Tomorrow (Thursday 27th) it is planned that the green will be CLOSED for maintenance during the day.
The process that is being carried out is trying to remove the meadow grass that is in the green, it is anticipated that the green will not look its best until the new grass seed germinates. Please be mindful of areas of the green that look bare and avoid playing on them.
Thank you,
Andrew
24th June 2019
The next competitions are, E.C. Stephens Triples (Saturday 6th July) names/teams will be draw on the day. Bennett Owen Pairs are on Saturday 27th July (your choice who you pair up with but please put both names down, either in the mens or ladies locker rooms)
Friday night, Chris and team will be serving chips.
You may have noticed that there are some new signs on the club house wall, (Please keep clear at all times) the reason for this is that a lady fell the other night trying to avoid walking past people sitting between the club house wall and the green (she was shaken and bruised but otherwise okay) . This narrow area has been of concern to the management for some time now, and have now decided to take action before there is a more serious injury occurs. There are ideas on how to improve the seating around the green that are being discussed by the management committee.
All the best,
Andrew

Good morning everyone,
Well bit of a wet week! So not much to report on, but the men managed a 6:1 win last night which gave a much needed boost to moral we were extremely lucky with the weather. As I walked from the club after closing up it was raining and as I look out now it looks to have been raining all night. If you do wish to play in this spell of poorer weather please be mindful of the green and move the mat as you are playing to avoid damage to the surface. At the moment rink 1 (closest to the club house) is closed and rink 6 should be avoided if possible as the grass needs to recover.
Friday league at the moment is on, and Chris and team will be cooking bacon baps.
The Masonic BBQ, tomorrow (Saturday 15th June) is cancelled
This coming week, the veterans are playing on Tuesday afternoon (weather permitting) Chris and team will be cooking, but would like some help serving out, if you are available please contact Chris thanks.
On Thursday the men are away to Welshpool, but in Home we are hosting the final of the 2018 Elaine Whitehurst Cup.

Good evening Ladies,
Further to my email regarding the Ladies fit option, below is the sizing details that are available,
Ladies Fit
Extra Small = Size 8
Small = Size 10
Medium = Size 12
Large = Size 14
X Large = Size 16
If I hear nothing by Friday 1st March I will take the sizes from that have been requested on Monday fitting night
27th February 2019
Good morning everyone,
A big thanks to everybody who made it to the try-on on Monday night its made the job of getting the shirts sorted a lot easier. This one is for the ladies, some of the lady members asked was there a ladies fit available?. Ive been in touch with the supplier, and they would make up ladies sizes in the club style. So if you wish to change your order from the unisex style to a ladies size let me know asap. The down size to this, is there are no sample sizes to try on, I will order what you ask and there will be no returns if the fit is not how you thought it would be.
24th February 2019
I have some sample sizing shirts in preparation of ordering the new shirts for the club. If you could to come along to the club tomorrow night (Monday 25th) between 7:00 and 9:00 in the evening to confirm your sizing needs.
There will be Dominos in the main room, so please come into the ladies changing room. The shirts are of a unisex design so your normal size may not give you a comfortable fit, so a trial fitting is recommended.
Thanks,
10th February 2019
